How it works
Images are decoded and re-encoded in a background thread in your browser and never uploaded. Every output file is checked to really be in the format its name says.
- Input: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP. The format is recognised from the file’s contents, so a wrongly named file still converts correctly.
- Transparency is kept when converting to PNG, WebP or AVIF. JPEG cannot store it, so transparent areas are filled with white, and the result tells you when that happened.
- Animation: animated GIF, WebP and PNG files are converted to a still image of their first frame.
- Metadata such as camera details and GPS location is not copied to the new file. Camera rotation is applied first, so the image stays upright.
- Limits: up to 20 images at a time, each up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels.
